A Visit to Remember - February, 2014

One of our directors, Sk. Valmiki Hari Kishan, recently paid a courtesy visit to a government middle school located in a village called Lanjhani in the district of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The school runs 1st-8th standard classes. After completing their studies here, the students have to shift to another school located 2 kilometers away.

Distributing sweets among the students, Sk.Valmiki Hari Kishan interacted with the school children and the management. This is how he narrated his interesting experience to the Valmiki Foundation team…

“I was so amazed and happy… at the same time… to find out that there is a greater level of awareness among the local community regarding the importance of education. Local non-profit organizations have been helping them in this direction. For instance, the school has been receiving immense support from the local Rotary Club members. Being a Rotarian myself, I felt great pride in the kind of activities that Rotary is doing in the field of child education and health.”

He shared further information on Himachal Pradesh. The state has basically an agricultre and tourism based economy. Famous for its abundant beauty, the state lies in the lap of Himalayas. The conomy of Himachal Pradesh is the fastest growing among the Indian states, and is ranked fourth in the list of highest per capita incomes.
