Children’s Day Celebrations (14-11-2009)

In India Children’s Day celebrated on 14th November, because the date marks the birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter and independent India’s first Prime Minister- Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru.

As a tribute to Nehru and his love towards children, 14th November, his birthday is considered as Children’s day. This day reminds everyone, to renew their commitment to the welfare of children and teach them to live by as ‘Children’s Day’.

On this occasion Valmiki Foundation celebrated Children’s Day at Indira Gandhi Memorial School, Budhavaripeta, Kurnool. Mr. T. G. Venkatesh M.L.A. Kurnool was the Chief Guest and Mrs. Valmiki Nagarathnamma, Mr. Valmiki Venkataramana (Retd M.R.O), Mr. Ramavataram (President Lion’s club of Hyd Harmony), were the guest of honour for this wonderful event.

The Children’s Day celebrations went very satisfactory, by distributing School Bags, Note books, Boxes and other Educational Material, among the children of Kurnool District who were in very much need of them. We have organised some cultural programmes among the students and prizes were distributed among them. We have also distributed 1200 food packets in the school.

Mr. T. G. Venkatesh M.L.A of Kurnool town, Mr. Ln Surya Ganesh Valmiki president of Valmiki Foundation, Mr. Ln Ramavataram President of Lion’s club of Hyderabad Harmony, and other dignitaries inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. On this occasion chief guest delivered his inspirational speech about the importance of education to the children, and appreciated the services of Valmiki Foundation.

Mr. Ln Surya Ganesh Valmiki President of Valmiki Foundation followed with the speech about the importance of Children’s Day and also he explained the children about punctuality, culture, and ethics.

Mr. Valmiki Venkataramana (Retd M.R.O), Mr. Ramavataram, President Lion’s club of Hyderabad Harmony and other guests delivered their speech towards the over all development of children in their future.

Under Valmiki Foundation Scholarship Program, educational scholarship was given to baby Devath Bhavani, D/o Devath Krishna R/O Vijayawada Krishna Dist, on Children’s Day. Baby Bhavani, who is studying in 5th standard in Priya Darshini convent, could not cope with her education due to financial instability of her parents. Her siblings are blind, physically and mentally disabled. The whole family history of Devath Bhavani was covered in Sakshi Salaam Programme in Sakshi television. After watching the programme, Valmiki Foundation President decided to help baby Bhavani in terms of providing educational sponsorship. Our president approached Mr. Jagdeep Sahaney, CEO Sakun Internationals to support baby Bhavani who responded positively and donated Rs 6000 to Valmiki foundation to support baby Bhavani, which we have given to Baby Bhavani for her education. Baby Bhavani and her father conveyed their thanks to Mr. Jagdeep Sahaney and Valmiki foundation for providing opportunity to continue her education.

To imbibe the competitive spirit among the children we have organised different cultural programmes. A team of MANCHI KALALU organization, Hyderabad and Indira Gandhi Memorial School, Kurnool children performed cultural programmes. Children were very happy by witnessing and participating in this programme. These cultural programmes inspired the children about the importance of education in their personal lives.

The guests distributed prizes to the winners and runners of different competitions which was organised by the school management on the occasion of Children’s Day.

All the children were very happy from this event. All the participants, Dignitaries, School Management expressed their gratitude for the kindness and generosity of Valmiki Foundation.
