Proud moment for the Director, Valmiki Group!

Our Director, Sk. Valmiki Hari Kishan recently met Maancho Ferrer (Program Director Rural Development Trust). It was a proud moment for the Director as he has been associated to RDT since his childhood. The organization is active in Ananthapuram and is focusing attention on the ecological development of the area, rural housing, higher and professional education of children of deprived sections, promotion of rural sports, games and cultural talents among children.

RDT is also carrying out need based welfare and integrated programs for the development of rural poor and needy, especially belonging to the marginalized and underprivileged sections such as the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Backward Castes (BC) and Persons With Disability (PWDs), since the past 44 years. At present it is working in 3152 villages spread across 101 Revenue Mandals.

RDT was founded by Father Vincent Ferrer and Anne Perry, who came to India from Spain in January, 1969. It was in 1970 that Father Ferrer had left the Society of Jesus and married Anne Perry. Both began their journey together, as life and work partners. They were blessed with three children Tara, Moncho and Yamuna. Father Vincent, because of his kind work, was greatly loved and admired by people both in Ananthapuram and Spain. He received many international awards for dedicating his life towards the welfare of others. Although he left for his heavenly abode in 2009, he still remains in the hearts of millions! The people of Anathpuram will always ever be so grateful to him.

The charisma of Father Vincent Ferrer had immensely influenced the thought process of our Directors since their childhood, who would meet him on regular occasions. They too got inspired by the Father and his sympathetic attitude towards others. Therefore, they too wanted to do something for the society and this dream is now being nourished in the form of Valmiki Foundation. Director Sk. Valmiki Hari Kishan was encouraged by Father Ferrer and Anne Ferrer to carry forward his hobby of coin collection and contributed a lot towards it.

The meeting of the Director with Mancho Ferrer ended with the presentation of a colorful cultural program by the children. This was organized especially for the Special Volunteer team who had come all the way from Spain.
