Valmiki Foundation Events

Rural Education & Cultural Exchange Programme in association with Eden Social Welfare Foundation - Taiwan (20-01-2011 to 31-01-2011)

Team from Eden Social Welfare Foundation Taiwan:

Eden Social Welfare Foundation is a Taiwan based Foundation, was founded to serve people with disabilities as well other socially marginalized groups. Every year some volunteers visiting different countries to know the situation of education system in rural and urban areas of India. In collaboration with Valmiki foundation we have arranged visits to the residential centres of NGOs and also to government schools.

Field Visits:

On 20-01-2011 a group of 18 volunteers visited to Valmiki Foundation and they interacted with our President & Secretary. Mr.Surya Ganesh Valmiki, President of Valmiki foundation explained them about various activities for poor and needy children in different schools and rehabilitation centres.

On same day afternoon, the volunteers visited Bala Vikasa Home for the street and underprivileged children, at Yadagarpally, Keesara, Ranga Reddy and Spoorthi Foundation, Cherlapally, Hyderabad. They spent their valuable time with children for 2 hours in both the centres. Children recited nursery rhymes and narrated their way of life at the Care Centre and shared their experiences of school with the Volunteers. The volunteers shared about their country traditions and certain etiquettes with children. Later they played indoor games.

On 22-01-2011 morning the team reached to Hampapura (Village), Rapthadu (Mandal), Ananthapur (Dist). All the volunteers wanted to stay in the village for one week so that they can know better about the education system and the culture from the village people. They have selected government schools in the same village and the volunteers interacted with the principal of Primary & High school and explained their one week programme schedule. They happily accepted to stay in the school and they can teach the children for one week. During these days classes were conducted for the children. During early hours they taught primary school children and during afternoon for high school children. They taught some non formal methods to understand easily, every day they use to play with the children after the school hours. In the evenings they use to interact with the village people to know the culture and traditions. During the Sundays they visited the agriculture fields, and helped the village people in agriculture works. Every day they had their lunch & dinner with children in school and hostel.

26-01-2011 they participated in Republic day celebrations in primary & high school, Performed some culture programs along with the children.

29-01-2011 they visited GATES institute of science & Technology, Gooty, Ananthapur (Dist) and interacted with management and students in the college to know education system in India for graduate and under graduate students. After the discussion students of GATES college performed cultural programs on Indian tradition and culture. The volunteers also performed cultural programmes on their own tradition and culture.

During their presence in the village Mr.Raghavaiah M.E.O, MPDO and Medical Officer met with the volunteers and interacted with them.

The team from Eden Social Welfare Foundation was very happy to visit all the places with the help of Valmiki foundation and they are happy to learn many things about the education system, culture and traditions of people in Andhra Pradesh.
