Valmiki Foundation Celebrates 12 Years of Empowering Children
The Valmiki Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of underprivileged children, recently celebrated its 12th anniversary with a grand event in Dharur, near Vikarabad, about 50 km from Hyderabad.
Over the course of 12 years, the foundation has reached out to approximately 50,000 children across 20 villages and 18 slums. One of the flagship initiatives of the Valmiki Foundation is the Valmiki Scholarship program, which currently supports the education and essential needs of more than 200 children, with the aim of grooming them into future global leaders
The 12th-anniversary celebration was marked by a special initiative called “Cheyutha Radham,” through which the foundation extended support to families of farmers who had committed suicide. This initiative was organized in association with Kisan Mitra, and the event was facilitated by SECRED SPACE.
The guest of honor, Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta, Additional Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, praised the Valmiki Foundation for their commendable efforts in supporting the families of farmers who had taken their own lives. The chief guest of the event was film and TV star Anasuya Bharadwaj, who added to the excitement and celebration.
During the event, the foundation distributed sewing machines to the women in the farmer’s families, which will provide them with a sustainable source of livelihood through tailoring and embroidery. Additionally, the foundation provided school books, pencil boxes, bicycles, and cricket kits to the children of the deceased farmers’ families, ensuring their continued access to education and recreational activities.
The event was further enlivened by cultural performances, including songs and dances by the Valmiki Foundation volunteers and children, making it a memorable celebration of World Music Day.
Looking ahead, the Valmiki Foundation has set its sights on an ambitious goal of reaching out to one lakh (100,000) children. To this end, the foundation is in the process of setting up a Gurukulam School on a five-acre land, with a project outlay of Rs 3 crore, to provide holistic education and all-round grooming for the children.
Additionally, the foundation is establishing a Tailoring Training Center at the SECRED SPACE, founded by Nayanthara, to empower rural women. This initiative has already trained 30 family members of the farmers who had committed suicide.
The Valmiki Foundation’s 12th-anniversary celebration was graced by the presence of KP Paratha Sarathy, Dr. Partha Sarathy (AP BJP Vice President), and members of the Rotary Club of Secunderabad, all of whom have been consistent supporters of the foundation’s endeavours.
